'Quality Concerns' Delay Batman: Return to Arkham With No New Release Window

The remastering of the original two Batman: Arkham games from Rocksteady - dubbed Batman: Return to Arkham - has been delayed for the foreseeable future.

Warner Bros. have tasked Virtuos with remastering Arkham Asylum and Arkham City for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 into one package, and with it comes a slew of visual upgrades. However trouble has plagued the project with WB Games keeping very quiet.

Fans started noticing something wasn't right when images of the remastered version actually seemed to be 'taking a step backward' in their presentation with the original art looking better than the so-called remaster. Evidently WB Games feels the same.

"After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience."

"We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready.   We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans," posted WB Games.

"In order to keep conversations around this topic in one place, please keep any discussions regarding this news in this thread.  All other posts regarding the release delay will be locked and directed to this post."

Delays shouldn't be seen as all that bad, particularly when it comes to WB Games' recent past. The PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight has secured its own place in video games history right alongside Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Unity for being one of the biggest technical train-wrecks on PC.

Arkham Knight went further though and was pulled entirely as whole features were missing, and that included PC configurations that were literally just placeholder switches.

Batman: Return to Arkham is being developed by Virtuos where they are attempting to bring the older titles into the new Unreal Engine 4. It was expected to release for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 July 26th,. 2016.
