Has Konami Ceased Almost All Development on Triple-A Console Games?
The Internet is abuzz with rumours as an independently verified website reported Konami no longer has any plans to release a new Metal Gear game after the release of Metal Gear Online.
This sparked the notion that Konami may be pulling out of the triple-A market entirely, apart from their Pro Evolution Soccer series as the company no longer has anything lined up in terms of major console releases.
This report coincides with the departure of Julien Merceron, the developer of the FOX Engine, and further evidence was given by composer Rike Muranaka who responded to the rumours on Twitter:
Yes....it's pretty sad...now, I can't write music to any of AAA games..well, I need to find another AAA game company https://t.co/lVIFRXi95a

It is a fact that Konami's business model has changed to "aggressively" pursue mobile gaming but whether or not the company has dropped triple-A development is uncertain. Konami has been contacted for a statement on the rumours.
