James Earl Jones Returns As "More Violent" Darth Vader In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The Dark Lord of the Sith will be back with actor James Earl Jones providing his deep, booming voice once again in the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

It has been hinted we'll see a much more merciless side of Darth Vader in the spin-off movie, and that's saying something. The Sith Lord isn't above choking insubordinate or incompetent officers within the Empire, or chopping off the hand of his own son.

Oops. Spoiler.

"He will be in the movie sparingly,"revealed Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. "But at a key, strategic moment, he's going to loom large."

"Within the Empire, there is the culture of knowing of the existence of Darth Vader," added director Gareth Edwards. "There's definitely an underlying feeling that there is a power - a dark power - available to the Empire and that if you overstep your mark, you will suffer the consequences."

Rogue One is situated between Episodes III and IV where the plans for the Death Star are stolen and spirited away to the Rebel Alliance. This "more violent" Darth Vader is said to be in a Rebel dismembering mood in the film.
