Rumour: Star Wars Han Solo Release Date Change
The Han Solo spin-off movie in the Star Wars universe won't be coming out in May 2018, according to theatre industry insiders, but later in December 2018.
Even the referenced December 13th, 2018 date is 'subject to change' if talk of the paperwork is true. The two recent Star Wars films - The Force Awakens and Rogue One - hit the cinema worldwide in December to tremendous success.
Disney is yet to offer any official acknowledgement of the rumour but why upset a good thing? Rogue One managed to eek out in front of Captain America: Civil War to become the second highest-grossing film of 2016. Disney and Lucas both pushed the next major Star Wars Episode instalment from May of this year to December. It's a continuing trend it seems.
Alden Ehrenreich is to play the young smuggler Han Solo with Donald Glover as the young Lando Calrissian, future ruler of Cloud City.
The untitled Star Wars Han Solo movie is, for now, officially scheduled May 2018.
