Batman: New Rumours About Villain in Standalone Movie

Ben Affleck may well do battle with a familiar foe in the first planned standalone Batman movie.

Making his debut in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Affleck’s Batman will then go on to get his own movie – possibly directed by the star himself and rumoured to be called The Batman.

Now, there’s a rumour over at JoBlo that Affleck’s caped crusader will come face to face with the Red Hood (there’s already an excellent animated adventure Batman: Under The Red Hood, which is well worth seeing). The Red Hood – a vigilante himself – would frame Batman and eventually turn the citizens of Gotham against its watchful protector; ultimately setting him up for a showdown with The Joker.

The Red Hood’s inclusion seems to suggest a return for Robin. As in Jason Todd, who was killed in the classic comic book A Death in the Family, but later resurrected as a foe. Which does at least have some elements of the truth to it, after all one of the Batman V Superman trailers contains an image of Robins costume daubed with a garish message from The Joker: could it be a macabre momentum from Jason’s downfall?

Also, at one stage or another, there have been rumours of another Robin, in the form of Dick Grayson, now in the guise of Nightwing and the Carey Kelly incarnation, who was rumoured to be played by Jena Malone.

Obviously, these are all just rumours, so take them with an enormous pinch of salt, but could you see Affleck’s Batman face off against the Red Hood.
