Matt Damon Stars in the First Trailer for The Martian
Hot on the heels of yesterday’s promo footage, the first trailer for Ridley Scott’s next foray into outer space, The Martian has been revealed.
Matt Damon stars as astronaut and botanist Mark Watney, a member of the Ares crew on a reconnaissance mission to the red planet. Things quickly take a turn for the terrifying when Watney s cut off from his team in the middle of a Martian dust storm; stranding him with only his wits and science knowledge to save himself.
Adapted from the novel by Andy Weir and staring Jessica Chastain and Kate Mara among his fellow Ares crew members, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kristen Wigg and Sean Bean among those on the ground, the film is pitched as Gravity on Mars only with an able support crew backing Watney as he attempts to reconnect with humanity.
The Martian opens in the US on 25 November 2015, before opening in the UK two days later.
