Michael Keaton and J.K Simmons Depart Skull Island

Taking the last boat off Kong: Skull Island, Lionsgate’s forthcoming King Kong prequel, Michael Keaton and J.K Simmons have departed from the project.

No reason has been given for the pair’s departure but Deadline cite scheduling conflicts as the root of the problem. That leaves just Tom Hiddleston as the lone cast member still attached to the film (which will make for an impressive one man style movie. Like Lars Von Trier's Skull Island).

Jordan Vogt-Roberts is in place to direct, with John Gatins and Max Borenstein having penned the script. The story will delve deeper into Kong's home island, as a group of intrepid explorers pitch up on a voyage of discovery and trying not to get eaten/squashed.

Kong: Skull Island will open in the UK and US on 10 March 2017.
