Jake Kasdan To Direct Jumanji Reboot

Despite a lot of uproar – and when we said a lot, we mean a shed load – Sony is still pressing ahead with a Jumanji remake and has rolled the dice on Jake Kasdan to steer the project.

Normally a comedy director, Kasdan, who directed Sex Tape and Bad Teacher, will turn his more than capable hands towards what promises to be an effects heavy film.

The original needs no introduction. The 1996 production saw Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce as two kids who decide to play an old board game they find. Unbeknownst to them, it’s a magical trap that can ensnare the unprepared and, as they play, they release Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), who had been sealed within the game’s deadly jungle world for years. Even though he’s glad to be out, the kids’ actions also unleash an entire jungles worth of chaos into the world.

Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner have written the most recent draft and Kasdan needs to get his skates on if he’s going to meet Sony’s deadline of Christmas Day, 2016 in the US.
