Game of Thrones Casts Jim Broadbent in 'Significant' Role
As if Game of Thrones didn’t already feature a host of top acting talent, another outstanding thespian has been added to its ranks in the form of Oscar-winner and Harry Potter star Jim Broadbent.
Unsurprisingly for a show shrouded in secrecy, details about which role Broadbent will be playing have been cast into a deep dark dungeon until Season 7 is ready – however Entertainment Weekly have reported that it’s a ‘significant’ part (which, considering how many ‘significant’ cast members have already met with a grisly demise, the elevated status might not do him much good).
So who could he be playing? Will he be an elder instructing John Bradley's Samwell Tarley at the Citadel? Or will he get a chance to play completely against type as a cruel, calculating evil tyrant? With the endgame approaching for the show – Seasons 7 and 8 will have shortened runs, with fewer episodes than previous series - more casting news will start to arrive as the show prepares to start shooting the next run of episodes.
The new season will be delayed slightly as the production team is waiting for the right weather.
