Captain Marvel: Rebecca Ferguson Eyed for Carol Danvers?

Breakout star of the summer Rebecca Ferguson has been added to the growing list of actors linked to the titular role in Marvel’s Captain Marvel.

Following her eye-catching turn in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Ferguson’s career has been in ascendance. She’s already signed on for The Girl on the Train and was one of the final three fighting it out for the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux in Gambit, and now it seems that she’s being eyed by Marvel the role of Carol Danvers.

However, with Captain America: Civil War already in the can and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at least two years away, it’ll be three years before we get to see Captain Marvel fly – which seems far too early to start casting.

Something in favour of the rumour is the resolution of the recent power struggle at Marvel – where Kevin Feige now reports directly to Disney instead of Marvel’s CEO Ike Perlmutter. It was reportedly Perlmutter who blocked efforts to create a Marvel film centered on a female character.

/Film argues that, with that shift at Marvel, could Feige be taking advantage of his new position to get to Captain Marvel earlier than planned, and in so doing lock in one of the hottest talents of 2015.

Captain Marvel is currently slated for November 2, 2018 release.
