The Sandman and Vertigo Comics Movies Move to New Line Cinema

Movie adaptations of The Sandman, Preacher and Constantine have found themselves a new home after Warner Bros passed production of Vertigo Comics properties - DC's more adult-centric fare - to New Line Cinema.

The move will diversify an already full schedule of DC adaptations at Warner Bros into the now fully subsidised New Line Cinema brand - giving their team of

Toby Emmerich and Richard Brener the lead on several high profile movies, including the much anticipated Sandman adaptation currently being handled by the impressive brain trust of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Neil Gaiman, Jack Thorne and David S Goyer.

Gordon-Levitt's involvement in Sandman was revealed back in 2013, although it's only been confirmed thus far that he's one of the film's producers. He is, however, expected to star in the movie, and may well direct it once the official start date is confirmed.

Other Vertigo projects currently in various stages of development include Preacher, Constantine and Lucifer will also move to New Line as part of the change.

The one exception is Justice League Dark, which remains with Warner Bros directly (and appears to have lost Guillermo del Toro as its director).
