London Has Fallen Delayed Until January 2016

London Has Fallen…fallen way back to the cinematic wasteland of a January 2016 release date.

Traditionally a period where Hollywood studios – spent after shedding their big blockbusters and award season contenders - abandon the projects of the damned: the movies that sounded good on paper, which went over budget, were left over from a recently fired executive’s tenure or just didn’t have complete script to begin with; it rarely means good news.

Staring Gerard Butler – action hero and #manoftoday – London Has Fallen has hardly fired out of the blocks. Original director Fredrik Bond, who replaced Olympus director Antoine Fuqua, left the project due to creative differences with the studio and, despite the relatively health box office showing of Olympus, there was hardly a strong desire to see a sequel made – especially one rumoured to cost $70 million (minus marketing cost).

But it may not all be bad news, unshackled from competition from the likes of The Martian and The Walk, and free to claim the No.1 Box Office position for its week – if the movie manages to bring back those loyal fans looking for another shot of fiery action, it might have just enough to carry it over for a second week and turn a modest success out of a difficult situation.

Here’s hoping London Has Fallen remembers what we do when we fall…
