Rogue One Teaser Reel Debuts At Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Celebration fan convention opened this weekend in the London Docklands area and making quite the splash was a brand new ‘celebration reel’ for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

And it really underlines the ‘war movie’ ethos of this standalone tale. From shaky camera work and emphasis on hand to hand combat; to gritty locations and a hell of a lot of explosions; it’s clear that the first non-jedi Star Wars movie (although there’s a familiar phrase utter with a little bit of cynicism towards the end) is leaning heavily on the ‘Wars’ half of that title.

On the Celebration Stage, flanked by producer Kathleen Kennedy and his ensemble cast including Felicity Jones and Forest Whitaker, director Gareth Edwards introduced a three-minute behind-the-scenes teaser reel to a live audience of thousands and streamed to millions more online.

Also making its debut is the first poster which features a beach assault with the Death Star looming over the horizon – the post also bears the tagline ‘A Rebellion built on Hope’ which you could very well add ‘…literally’ to judging by Gareth Edwards comments.
