Martin Abstains From Game Of Thrones Scripts To Focus On Books

Yes It seems George R R Martin is very much dedicating himself to getting the next book in the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series -The Winds of Winter- finished, stating that he will not write an episode for the sixth season of HBO's Game of Thrones.

Martin has already stated that he won't be appearing at San Diego Comic Con this year to focus on the book. Now he has taken to his blog to come out and say that there would not be any episodes written by him, as there had been for the first four seasons of Game of Thrones.

This move doesn't really come as much of a surprise, coming as it does barely a week after David Benioff, GoT executive producer and one of the people whom Martin revealed the end of the series to, admitted that the show would forge on regardless of if the books were out or not. This decision of course means that the ending of the books could be spoiled by the show well before Martin has time to write them.

It's possible Martin's intentions here are to devote as much time as he can to write Winds of Winter in the hopes of it hitting shelves before season 6 begins, or at least at some point next year. Either way, however, it seems inevitable that Game of Thrones will see its conclusion before A Song of Ice and Fire does.

Game of Thrones season 5 begins on April 12 on HBO in USA and April 13 on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
