Justice League: First Look At Amber Heard as Mera, Queen of Atlantis
While we’ve seen many images from Justice League, one character we’ve yet to ‘sea’ is Mera, queen of Atlantis (played by Amber Heard). Well, the underwater mystery is now over as IGN have not only nabbed the first look at her royal aquatic self, they’ve also got character sketches and concept art that detail how she has developed.
In the comics, Mera is the love interest of Aquaman, who’ll be played by Game of Thrones Jason Momoa, and ruler of Atlantis.
In comic lore, she first appeared in the DC canon in 1963 and she has powers of her own, including the ability to control water in the form of ‘hard water’ objects that she can wield at her own will.
What this armour clad warrior queen will bring to the Justice League remains to be seen but we can expect her to take a more central role in the standalone Aquaman movie.
We’ve still yet to see how Zack Snyder plans to visualise Atlantis but, judging by her armour and battle ready stance, it looks like that crown of hers will have been hard-fought.
Justice League opens in theatres until November 17, 2017.
