Microsoft's HoloLens, a new augmented reality project, was announced earlier this year. Today, Microsoft has confirmed that the new tech will make an appearance at this year's E3.

The exact message to users via Microsoft's official HoloLens website reads:

"Be inspred at E3.

Holographic computing promises whole new ways for us to create, collaborate, work, and play. We look forward to showing and telling you more at E3, the world's premier trade show for computer and video games and related products."

It'll be interesting to see what they have planned to show us at the press event. After all, the HoloLens is the first fully untethered, see-through holographic computer. It enables high-definition holograms to come to life in your world, seamlessly integrating with your physical places, spaces, and things. They're calling the experience: Mixed reality; holograms mixed with your real world will unlock all-new ways to create, communicate, work, and play. HoloLens is currently being developed with several games for Xbox One and PC in mind.

At Microsoft's Build conference in San Francisco, the company also officially announced a partnership with Unity Technologies, the creators of the Unity game engine. The Unity game engine has become one of the biggest in the video game business, by powering popular games like Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft and Cities: Skylines.

This year's E3 will take place June 16-18 and you can expect to get your hands on the device when it launches later this year at a price-point "under $500."
