Turbo Kid: Release Date, Trailer and New Poster
Festival favourite Turbo Kid - an 80's throwback movie set in a nostalgia filled sci-fi wasteland - is finally getting a US release via its distributor Epic Pictures Group.
The film is the brainchild of Canadian filmmaking group RKSS (directors Anouk Whissell, Francois Simard and Yoann-Karl Whissell), sees The Kid (Munro Chambers), an orphaned outcast, meets a mysterious girl (Laurence Leboeuf). They become friends until Zeus (Michael Ironside), the sadistic leader of the Wasteland, kidnaps her. The Kid must face his fears, and journey to rid the Wasteland of evil and save the girl.
What sets the film apart from other 80's nostalgia-fests is its sincerity - whether or not that will be enough to lift behind mere pastiche to something with genuine heart remains to be seen.
Turbo Kid will be screened in select theaters and VOD from the 28th August.
