Sherlock Holmes is experiencing a revival at the moment with many capable young actors playing the genius detective. Whether it's Benedict Cumberbatch in BBC's Sherlock, Johnny Lee Miller in CBS' Elementary or even Robert Downey Jr. in the Sherlock Holmes movies, each brings something new to the role. This latest film, however, promises to be Sherlock Holmes as you've never seen him before.

Ian McKellan (The Hobbit series) plays the role of an elderly Sherlock Holmes, now retired and keeping bees in Sussex downs as his great mind begins to fail him and he returns to his last case, one he failed to solve.

Mr Holmes is directed by Bill Condon and co-stars Laura Linney, who worked together on The Fifth Estate. It is due to open on June 19 in the UK, presumably with a US release not long after, though nothing has been confirmed. Watch the trailer below:
