Today, Blizzard Entertainment announced that 'Heroes of the Storm' will be launching this June 2nd, soon after the open beta begins in May. The game crosses the boundaries of Blizzard's game universes, bringing the greatest heroes of Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo to battle.

Heroes of the Storm will launch with 30 playable characters and 7 dynamic battlegrounds with unique challenges. Using character skins and special mounts, every character is customisable to suit their style.

The game focuses on team-play, however a single-player mode is available against computer-controlled enemies. 'Quick' and ranked matches are also available for multiplayer gameplay featuring a variety of game modes.

Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said, "With its focus on team play and fast-paced fun, Heroes of the Storm is a fresh take on a very popular genre, we've built Heroes of the Storm in a way that makes it accessible to new players, but also challenging enough for veterans who really want to put their skills to the test. We can't wait to see what Heroes brings to the co-op and competitive scenes once the Nexus opens up to everyone."

The open beta begins May 19 following 'Heroes of the Dorm', a collegiate eSports Tournament, which itself begins this week, April 26.
