PokeVision "Respecting Niantic and Nintendo's Wishes"; Gone For Now

An application which allowed users to track the critters of Pokemon Go has seemingly been shut down by a cease and desist from Nintendo and Niantic, following comments from the latter's CEO, John Hanke, and players are not happy about it.

Last week, Hanke warned that tracking websites would probably stop working in the future as the company sees it as taking "fun out of the game." He continued, "people are hacking around trying to take data out of our system and that's against our terms of service".

At the moment, the news comes as more than irritating after an update to Pokemon Go indefinitely removed the currently useless "footstep" distance mechanic. According to an interview with Forbes, the developer of PokeVision doesn't have high hopes for a return in the future.

Contrary to Hanke's opinion, it seems the majority's opinion of the tracking services - not including those that charged cash to track - is that it has amplified their playing experience, they're no longer wandering around aimlessly.

On the other hand, Niantic absolutely has a right to take down these services, especially considering the company had issues with their previous AR title Ingress in which mapping/tracking services utilised Niantic servers, straining the start-up's limited resources.
