Obsidian Entertainment Will Announce New RPG In "Next Few Months"

A long time ago Pillars of Eternity developer Obsidian Entertainment were making an Xbox One launch title but, in the end, they parted with Microsoft and the entire project itself was cancelled leading to around 40 staff out of work.

It's a grim origins story for this new RPG Obsidian has cooking but it might just get a happy ending after all. Another publisher picked up the game and with Obsidian tweaking some of its designs they have managed to bring it back to life. The reason it struggled on Xbox One was because they had to try and make it "feel like a first-party title", but what exactly is that for Xbox without the Halo name?

This new RPG should be getting announced formally in "the next few months". Obsidian partnered with Paradox Interactive for Pillars of Eternity, which has been performing very well for the developer. CEO Feargus Urquhart spilled the beans in a Game Informer interview.

The great news is that whatever this RPG is it should now be for PC, and maybe consoles.
