Everyone’s attention may be on Captain America: Civil War at the moment but, one of the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor: Ragnarok has just gained a new writer.

Stephany Folsom has taken over from previous writers Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost with the onus on lightening the dark clouds and dramatic heft of the film which will see Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk head to Chris Hemsworth Thor’s home where he’ll shake up everything about his world and the wider MCU.

Folsom is largely unknown, but has written scripts including Missing You and 1969: A Space Odyssey Of How Kubrick Learned To Stop Worrying and Land On The Moon, which was voted to the 2013 Blacklist of favourite unproduced screenplays – although, thanks to similarities between it and Moonwalkers, about a CIA agent and a rock manager persuading Stanley Kubrick to help fake Moon landing footage in the event that Apollo 11 should fail, means it’s unlikely to ever be produced.

Thor: Ragnarok, which will be directed by What We Do in The Shadows, Taika Waititi is scheduled for an October 27, 2017 release.
