The Official Title for Star Wars: Episode VIII Revealed
It’s official: Star Wars: Episode VIII will be called Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The announcement was made via the Star Wars twitter page along with a sinister teaser poster. The reveal came with no other information which is in keeping with how director Rian Johnson has been keeping his cards close to his chest.
So what else can we infer from the title? Well, it seems likely the titular Jedi refers to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who has been in exile on the oceanic planet of Ahch-To. Or it could mean Daisy Ridley's Rey, seen to be Force-sensitive in The Force Awakens, and the start of some force-heavy training she’s about to receive from Luke.
Or it could mean Jedi as in the plural for many Jedi, insinuating a rising of Jedi that could in fact be short lived. Are the Jedi’s about to be wiped out again? Should we read something into the red logo?
We'll have to wait to find out some of those answers, as The Last Jedi won't be with us until 15 December.
