BBC's Rockstar Games 'Documentary' The Gamechangers "Random, Made Up Bollocks"

Rockstar Games isn't impressed with the BBC's dramatised portrayal of the game developer, and specifically their take on co-founder Sam Houser who was played by Daniel Radcliffe.

The studio had already tried to stop the making and subsequent release of the so-called 'documentary' by the BBC but it went ahead. Now former Rockstar developers and even those from the DMA Design days are calling it out for such a poor representation. The biggest complaints are how little events actually reflect the reality of running a game development studio.

"@BBC Was Basil Brush busy? What exactly is this random, made up bollocks?" tweeted Rockstar Games.

The Gamechangers focuses on the battle between Rockstar Games during the height of legal wrangling with the now disbarred US attorney Jack Thompson. It opens with a disclaimer that it's based on real life events but was 'enhanced' for "dramatic effect".

"Current mentions of development team: zero. Current mentions there IS a development team: zero. Going very well #gamechangers" tweeted Brian Baglow, a former DMA dev. The actual 'battle' against Thompson's crusade would likely have made for some good TV, particularly given how ruthless and a known bully he was, which led to his eventual disbarment.

The Gamechangers is available to watch through BBC iPlayer.
