Disney Shuts Avalanche Software; Disney Infinity Cancelled

After garnering "lower results" from the toys-to-life series, Disney Interactive has shelved Disney Infinity, closed developer Avalanche Studios (sacking nearly 300 staff members), and announced that they would no longer be self-publishing console video games.

Instead, IP's will be licensed out to other publishers, much like the company already does with Star Wars to EA.

Disney Infinity is not dead just yet as, while the company may have discontinued production, two final retail releases will still be arriving shortly including three characters from Alice Through The Looking Glass, and a Finding Dory Play Set.

We wish the best for the talented folk over at Avalanche Software!
