You Don't Need PlayStation Plus to Play No Man's Sky
Sony has confirmed that a PlayStation Plus subscription "won't be a requirement to play online" with No Man's Sky. You will, however, need to be connected to the Internet in order for the things you discover to register with "the universal atlas".
It's no surprise, considering the fact that No Man's Sky is not technically a multiplayer game, despite players sharing its universe.
After all, it's an expansive world out there and Sean Murray himself has stated that you'll rarely stumble upon a planet another player has visited already.
