Dredd Sequel “Unlikely” Says Screenwriter Alex Garland

2012's Dredd was a fantastic film, but it didn't do well at release - mainly due to marketing issues – although you could say that it now has a group of very hardcore fans, a cult following if you like, thanks to the release of the Blu-ray and DVD. Fans want a sequel.

Speaking in an interview with Collider, screenwriter Alex Garland believes that a sequel to Dredd is “unlikely” and that he “doesn't think it'll happen”.

“How can I say this without being soppy?” said Garland. “It’s touching. It means something that these people support the film in that way, but the thing people want, which is a sequel, I don’t think is going to happen… I don’t think it’s happening with me and the people who made the last one.”

It looks like we're going to have a long wait until we see the Judge back on our screens.
