There’s no rest for the wicked. Take Ben Wheatley, who is currently dividing his time between promoting his latest movie, Free Fire, and casting his next film the monster hunting thriller, Freakshift.

Getting ready to start that shift is Lara Croft herself, Alicia Vikander, who is in talks to star. Wheatley co-wrote Freakshift with wife and regular writing partner Amy Jump. The movie has been in development since 2012, and was once set to be filmed before both High Rise and Free Fire.

Set in a world where monsters terrorise citizens at night, the Freakshift, a government agency of thrill-seeking hunters who are all too happy to go out a-killing of a night "for duty, sport and money."

If Vikander signs up, she’ll be one of the lead monster hunters, and Wheatley is aiming for an August start date, leaving time for the actress to finish up work on the new Tomb Raider.

Freakshift
