Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands Developer Diary

Ubisoft has published a fresh developer diary for the upcoming and open world Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands in which they discuss the 'freedom of choice'.

This new entry into the Ghost Recon series takes us to the wildlands of Bolvia which is choking under the iron grip of drug cartels and corrupt officials involved in their illicit empire. Our task is to get in and dismantle the defacto warlords.

The Ghosts elite special operations unit is tasked with the job as they can operate independently to take on the insidious Santa Blanca cartel, which has begun to export its influence beyond Bolivia. It's  tactical shooter set in third-person with an open-world environment to explore and is set around modern day technology, and not futuristic tech like in Future Soldier.

We can choose which missions to engage and how to approach them as Ubisoft appears to be taking something of a Far Cry-like approach to Wildlands - giving us a huge sandbox to play in and cause trouble for the locals. To that end we can develop either a friendly or hostile relationship with NPCs and interact with them accordingly between missions. The AI is said to be 'unscripted' and instead NPCs are driven by motivations and agendas.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 March 7th, 2017.
