Turbine has unleashed their plans for Lord of the Rings Online in 2016 in a new Developer Diary, and their plans include pushing towards the Black Gates of Mordor.

While The Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, and World of Warcraft hogged the headlines this year, 9 year old free-to-play MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online is ready to push on forward, despite having to close most of its in-game worlds.

In the post, Executive Producer Athena Peters states "our story continues in 2016 with Riding with the Rohirrim to the Battle of Pelennor Fields and then taking the battle to the enemy as we push towards the Black Gates! It is going to be an exciting year to be sure."

Furthermore, 2016 will bring an increased level cap of 105, new Fellowship Challenges, new UI elements including collections beginning with your collected emotes, and general Quality of Life improvements such as bug fixes.
