Who Should Join Street Fighter V in DLC Wave 2?

Street Fighter V hit stores today and we’re already thinking about who should join the roster in the next wave of DLC. Juri, Ibuki, Guile, Urien, Balrog, and Alex will all be coming at some point this year, but Yoshinori Ono has already confirmed the second wave.

While we’d like the next pack of characters to contain a handful of new and unique characters, that’s rather hard to predict. So, instead, here’s who we’d like to see popping in to deliver a swift kick to the jaw.

Oro

The immortal hermit and Senjutsu master, Oro, was first seen in Street Fighter III where he sought a challenger worthy of his time. Oro does appear in Street Fighter V during Dhalsim's story and is mentioned during Karin’s story where he’s almost teased for a future appearance. His tricky-but-rewarding play style is what draws our eye back to him as a possible addition to the roster.

Hakan

While he was only just introduced in Super Street Fighter IV, Hakan isn’t returning for the next instalment as of yet, and that’s almost disappointing. Hakan boasted a fun and interesting, if slippery, play style based on Turkish Oil Wrestling which offers a defensive buff and increased sliding range.

Hakan’s journey follows him as his attempts to expand his much-loved family business of edible oil and discover new recipes.

Sodom

Formerly known in the West as Katana, Sodom first appeared in Final Fight as a member of the Mad Gear gang. Since then, we’ve seen him and his self-taught, weapon-based fighting style in Street Fighter Alpha. He was mentioned in Ultra Street Fighter IV where rumours have been circulating that he’s given up fighting in favour of a yakitori restaurant, maybe we could see what caused this?

Twelve

article image

The stretchy semi-solid Twelve can adapt to any situation to the point of stealing other character’s quotes. The result of Gill’s G-project in Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Twelve has the ability to transform his limbs into different weapons and offers an evasive play style in which he can air dash, crawl, and even become invisible for a moment. An interesting and underused character, in our opinion!

King

Street Fighter’s devil will be appearing in Tekken 7, foreshadowing Bandai Namco’s upcoming title Tekken X Street Fighter and, while we don’t want to think about the mess that was Capcom’s take on the crossover, it would be interesting to see a Tekken character return to the world of Street Fighter canonically.

While Heihachi, Kazumi, or Jin Kazama might be the more obvious choice, an appearance from the jaguar luchadore King - or perhaps Nina? - might be more interesting.
