Watch A Sneak Peek at Live Action Beauty and the Beast
Wanna feel old? It’s been 25 years since Disney released Beauty and the Beast and, to mark this anniversary year, the mouse house is releasing a live action version of the classic Oscar winning animation…next year…cough.
But, they’ve taken this anniversary-based opportunity to remind you that the film is coming with a sneak peek at what’s in store in a new Blu-ray release of the timeless classic.
There isn’t a whole lot of new stuff; we’ve already seen the shots of the beasts castle from the teaser trailer and that horrifying image of Lumière and Cogsworth first made the rounds last week but, there is new stuff to listen to, namely, footage from the table read where Belle (Emma Watson) asks the Beast (Dan Stevens) what he’s reading, and she points out that the story of Guinevere and Lancelot is a romance, even if he insists on referring to it as “King Arthur and the Round Table.”
This isn’t the first Disney animation to get the live action treatment. So far, we’ve had Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty (as Maleficent), Cinderella, and The Jungle Book, but it is the first to come from the studios 90’s renaissance period and, needless to say, it has some big shoes to fill.
Beauty and the Beast arrives in theatres March 17, 2017. But you can catch up with the classic animated version before that when the Beauty and the Beast 25th Anniversary Edition hits Digital HD September 6 and Blu-ray September 20.
