New 'We Are Ghosts' Trailer For Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, Coming December 2016

Ubisoft has just reminded everybody that Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is still alive and hasn't literally gone all spectral on us by, you know, dying. A new trailer is out.

The trailer focuses mostly on setting up the mystery and authority the Ghosts team has on their assignment in the drug-riddled Bolivia. Sadly it doesn't actually include much in the way of gameplay and instead opts for a montage of events.

Naturally this new marketing salvo from Ubisoft is accompanied by an announcement of collector's editions and the existence of a Season Pass. You spooked yet?

Wildlands: A Far Cry From Ghost Recon's Past

Unlike the rest of the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series, Wildlands is the very first that's going open world and even throwing over practically all decisions to the player or players if you choose co-op. This tactical shooter is also set during modern times and not the far-flung future, like Advanced Warfighter.

Our Ghost team of four is charged with bringing down the incredibly powerful, well armed, unbelievably financed and politically connected drug cartel empire that's plaguing Bolivia. How exactly we go about that falls to us to decide. The nation will react to our antics.

We can even go further and develop friendly or outright hostile reputations and relationships with other factions such as the civilians, government officials (presumably the non-corrupt kind) and rebels.

Vehicles and other modes of transport are critical in Wildlands given the huge geographical landscape we'll be conducting 'disavowed' actions in. Player characters can be customised and gear is upgradeable too. Apparently Ubisoft wanted an AI that was less directly scripted and that instead prioritised its own set of needs.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is playable in single-player where we'll be joined by 3 AI-controlled team-mates who take commands. Co-op multiplayer lets others take up the role of the 4-man Ghosts team.

We can certainly expect more from Ubisoft on Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands next month at E3 2016 in Los Angeles, where they're also expected to unveil Watch Dogs 2.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands releases on PC and console December 1st, 2016.
