Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is now officially called Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Kevin Feige, the boss of Marvel Studios, let slip during the press junket for Ant-Man that the title of the movie was set to be Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2.

And since then, Director James Gunn has taken to his Twitter account to confirm that's the case.

Yes, the official title for the @Guardians sequel is GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2. Nice detective work, @colliderfrosty, etc! You got us!

As titles go, it's a great nod towards the Awesome Mix Vol. 1 tape that played a pivotal part in the original film and, it bares out previous comments about the film being 'a story about fathers' - Hinting that this next installment will pack an emotional punch.

Production on Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 begins early next year, ahead of the movie's release on May 5th 2017.
