Promo for The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?
What could go wrong? Take a director whose track record in bringing difficult, much loved comic book properties to the big screen, throw in a writer well-versed in comic lore and an Oscar-winning actor at the height of his power: How could Superman Lives fail?
That’s the question being asked by documentary filmmaker Jon Schnepp in The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? in this new promo clip.
Funded by Kickstarter the documentary features Schnepp talking to the likes of Tim Burton, producer Jon Peters, writers Dan Gilroy, Wesley Strick and Kevin Smith and others who would have contributed to bringing Burton’s vision to life, including regular collaborators in costume designer Colleen Atwood and production designer Rick Heinrichs.
There’s no footage of the potential Man of Steel himself Nicholas Cage – although that could be a cunning tease – but writer Dan Gilroy, who went onto write/direct Nightcrawler said: “Tim is really, I gotta be honest, one of the only people who could really do it justice, because he understands it. He’s lived it. Man, he would have f*****g knocked it out of the park.”
The film will be on limited release in the States on May 1 and 2 and will then hit VOD worldwide on July 9.
