FOX has ordered a full second season for the DC Comics-based crime drama Lucifer, adding an additional 9 episodes bringing the second season to 22.

The announcement comes from David Madden of Fox Broadcasting Company. The new series is averaging around 8 million views across platforms. The story of Lucifer is, as its name would suggest, about the original fallen angel who ruled hell. He gets bored however and 'retires' to Los Angeles where we teams up with LAPD detective Chloe Decker and enjoys fighting crime.

“‘Lucifer’ continues to deliver, with great blasts of dark humor and ambitious storytelling. The show has turned out to be a true wicked pleasure, the perfect companion to ‘Gotham,’ and we couldn’t be more pleased to order these nine additional episodes,” said Madden.

“We’d like to thank Tom, Lauren and the entire cast, who have imbued these characters with charm, humor and a great deal of humanity. Our thanks also go out to the production crew – Jerry, Len, Jonathan, Joe and Ildy – who, week-in and week-out, deliver a stellar show. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of the season.” Currently the schedule goes up to episode 13 which will release December 12th, but now a further 9 will get dates in 2017.

Lucifer Season 2 began September 16th with the latest episode airing November 7th.
