Han Solo’s old gambling buddy, the Cloud City Casanova himself Lando Calrissian looks set to join ‘the old space pirate’ in Phil Lord and Chris Miler’s standalone Han Solo movie.

The Wrap have exclusively revealed that the casting process is underway to find a young actor to fill the cape of Lando, who was originally played by Billy Dee-Williams, and the current code name in casting circles for young Lando is “Chance” — perhaps a reference to the character’s appreciation of cards and dice.

As the first dialogue exchange between the pair in The Empire Strikes Back indicates, the Han, at some point in their past pulls some kind of stunt, a stunt that sees him winning the Millennium Falcon in a game of Sabacc.

There’s no word yet on who the frontrunner is although, a name being heavily rumoured for the part is Community’s Donald Glover, who certainly possesses the swagger of Lando.

Other names that have been bandied about include Creed's Michael B. Jordan, The Falcon himself Anthony Mackie, and Dope's Shameik Moore.

The Lego Movie’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller are currently prepping for the new movie, which features Alden Ehrenreich in the role made famous by Harrison Ford.

Filming on the movie is due to begin early next year, aiming for a May 2018 release date.
