The Last of Us Part 2 Announced
Sony and Naughty Dog have announced a sequel to The Last of Us which is set a few years after the first, with Ellie now the main character alongside Joel.
It's unclear exactly what's going on in the 4 minute reveal trailer for The Last of Us Part 2, but Joel comments on Ellie's bloody crusade against a certain group of people. From the clip its clear she has a hatred for them and it would seem she might be after the Fireflies, or perhaps someone who has been hunting them?
If you've played the original game all the way to the end you'll know that Joel, Ellie and the Fireflies have quite the history together.
“If the first game was really about the love between these two characters, this story is the counter of that,” Naughty Dog game director Neil Druckmann said. “This is story is about hate, through Ellie this time. The first game you play as Joel, this game you play as Ellie.”
Ellie is 19 in The Last of Us Part II with actors Ashley Johnson (Ellie) and Troy Baker (Joel) back reprising their roles. “All I ask is that fans of the first one put some faith in us, trust we’re going to do right by them," added Druckmann, referring to continuing the tale of Ellie and Joel.
The Last of Us Part 2 releases on PlayStation 4 at an undisclosed date and is said to be in 'early development'.
