Battlefield 1's Open Beta "Shortly After" Gamescom In August
Battlefield community manager Sebastian Moritz has revealed the closed alpha of Battlefield 1, where a select elite play, will be going into open beta near Gamescom.
Moritz said in an interview that, while a specific date isn't available yet, EA plans to start the open beta that welcomes every boot-strapped gamer "shortly after" the Gamescom event, which runs August 17-21. Battlefield Insiders will get earlier access, he added.
To become a Battlefield Insider you need only sign-up for promotional newsletters from the official Battlefield.com website. "Get early access to the Battlefield 1 public beta, in-game rewards, exclusive content, and a sneak peek at news about Battlefield (plus news about other EA games, services, and events)."
Moritz didn't go on to reveal any more details about the open beta itself, like what modes or maps could be expected or any limitations on player count. Likely they'll want to crank up the stress to test out server infrastructure and go for full 64-player battles.
Battlefield 1 releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 October 21st.
