The first round of reviews are in for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's new Mad Max game. Can the publisher deliver another game of the year contender along with Batman: Arkham Knight and Mortal Kombat X or does Avalanche Studios' title fall just below expectations? Let's see what the critics have to say...

Mad Max places players in the role of a lone warrior who must embark on a journey to reclaim his stolen interceptor from a deadly gang of marauders. The first gameplay trailer blew everyone away when it released just months ago, but according to critics, although the game has some great moments, repetition seems to be the game's biggest weakness.

Here's how the game is performing on the Metacritic scale:
Mad Max (PS4) currently has a 69 out of 100 on the review scale based on 5 critics. Here's what the reviewers had to say:

IGN
89 out of 100
"It’s a conflicting place of despair, a personal playground of explosive action and compulsive, unending progression that I can’t wait to get back to, and one hell of a ride."

GameInformer
75 out of 100
According to GameInformer, Mad Max starts to wear on the player after you're consistently tasked with taking over bases, running cars off the road, meeting forgettable characters, and completing more basic, repetitious open-world activities.

God is a Geek
75 out of 100
God is a Geek praises the games detailed open-word, but wishes the game had a "wow-factor."

GameSpot
60 out of 100
GameSpot critiqued the game's dumbed down combat system, repetitive activities, and lackluster way of imposing the realities of survival.

Polygon
50 out of 100
Polygon thinks Mad Max fans should stick to the movies, because the game will not be as memorable.

Mad Max releases on PC, PlayStation 4, & Xbox One on September 1st. Let us know below if you plan on picking up the game!
