Did You Miss The Final Fantasy XV Event? We've Got You Covered!

Square Enix just finished up their much-anticipated Final Fantasy XV event during which they announced the game's official release date, amongst other treats! Despite the developer's penchant for uninspiring announcements, the show was pretty exciting so, if you missed it, here's a quick rundown!

After more than a decade in the oven, Final Fantasy XV will finally launch world wide on September 30, 2016. If you're one for pre-ordering games, you'll be able to do that from today onwards.

If you've got some spare time tonight, Square Enix will be releasing their 'Platinum Demo' for Final Fantasy XV which doesn't contain a slice of the main game but instead tells an unusual story of its own.

The Platinum Demo takes place in the Alice in Wonderland-esque dreams of our protagonist, Noctis, in his younger days. It involves shrinking down, driving toy cards, and will give you a feel for the final game's combat mechanics.

According to the developer, the story from this Platinum Demo will tie into one of the other announcements: 'Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV', an anime project from Square Enix which will be available on YouTube for free.

Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV will consist of five standalone episodes - the first of which is already available - and will set the stage for the game itself. This series is being animated by A-1 Pictures, famous for shows such as Sword Art Online, Working!, Blue Exorcist, and much more.

As well as this anime project, Final Fantasy XV will also receive Hollywood treatment in the form of a CGI movie. Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV will tell the story of Noctis' mysterious father, King Regis.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV will star Game of Thrones' Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) and Sean Bean (Ned Stark), as well as Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman) from Breaking Bad.

A release date for Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV is yet to be announced but we can expect to see it either before or during the game's launch as the Ultimate Collector's Edition will include a physical copy of the movie which, otherwise, will be downloadable.

The Ultimate Collector's Edition of the game will be limited to just 30,000 copies. For $270, you'll receive a hardcover art book, exclusive Steelbook packaging including both the game disc and Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, a copy of the soundtrack, an exclusive Play Arts Kai Noctis figure, an additional outfit of Noctis, as well as a weapon and a skin for his car.

It also includes four item packs, if that's not enough for you.

If you can't spring for this Ultimate Collector's Edition, there's also a $90 Deluxe Edition which includes the bonus outfit, weapon, and car skin pack, as well as the Steelbook sans the Kingsglaive disc.

What did you think of the announcements? We're definitely looking forward to all this additional content!
