WOLSELEY 18/85, Six
Top of the Landcrab tree was the Wolseley 18/85, introduced in 1967. This ultimate Issigonis enlargement of the front-wheel-drive theme begun with the Mini was a capacious car and, in Wolseley form, offered a lot to please class-conscious customers with leather, wood and high quality carpeting. Naturally, there was the usual Wolseley grille with its trademark illuminated centre badge. The 18/85S of 1969 had 96bhp to the standard car’s 85bhp. Four cylinders grew to six in 1972 with the fitment of a 2227cc overhead-cam engine.
