Volvo gets racy! Or at least looked it. The P1800, designed by Frua and launched in 1960, was a startling-looking creation and British eyebrows were raised when Roger Moore drove one as The Saint. But the swept-back glamour disguised little more than 120 mechanics, which gave reasonable enough performance but fell short of being exhilarating. Post-1963, the name was changed to 1800S as power increased to 108 and 115bhp. A bit more wolf and less sheepish was the fuel-injected 1800E of 1969 to 1972; its 130bhp gave performance that went with the looks.
