Don’t look for a Volvo with 131 or 132 badging, because you won’t find one. This designation was used by the factory – and diehard enthusiasts – only to denote two-door versions of the 120-series. Introduced in 1961, these more stylish but less practical variants injected a touch of verve into the Amazon’s conservative appearance. 131s had a single carburettor while 132s, logically enough, had two. From 1968, the two-door cars became the only saloon style available, as Volvo had recently launched its new 140-series and was keen on boosting its four-door appeal.
