VAUXHALL VX4/90 FB
As well as the standard Victor FB there was, for the first time, a performance-orientated version of the type, dubbed the VX 4/90. Twin carburettors and a high-compression 1507cc engine boosted power from 50bhp to 71bhp, while a floor-mounted transmission and servo front disc brakes allowed the sporty Vauxhall driver to make the most of this extra potential. Spotters could recognise a VX4/90 by its contrasting colour side stripe and a vertical bar grille. When a 1595cc engine was fitted in 1963, power rose to 74bhp, with a wood-panelled dash to make up for this meagre increase.
