The conventionally-engineered Aronde was the car that carried Simca into the world of constructors, the French firm having hitherto assembled licence-built Fiats (the Aronde retained a Fiat-conceived engine). The model proved popular in its home market, competing strongly with the Peugeot 203, and paved the way for a long line of middle-market Simcas. It was of monocoque construction with a typically soft Gallic ride. Understandably rare in France, rust being a major enemy of these cars, finding one won’t be the work of a moment.
