MORGAN Plus 8
Morgan continued to develop the Plus 8, and by 1973, the aluminium-engined vintage-style hot-rod had the worst of its handling foibles sorted out. A all-synchromesh Rover 2000 gearbox was also installed to replace the old Moss unit. A higher output SD1-tune V8 was installed later, and in 1977, along with the much needed five-speed gearbox, the option of aluminium body panels was introduced. Sales continued steadily throughout the worst of the 1970s recession, and supply was carefully managed by keeping the waiting list long, at around eight years.
