Classic Car

Had World War 2 not intervened, Lanchester would have launched the LD10 in 1940. In the event, it was postponed until 1946. Vaguely American from the front thanks to its prominent cascading front grille, the 10 was quite clever underneath where coil-sprung independent front suspension meant a compliant ride and well-behaved handling. The overhead valve 1287cc engine was lively and the pre-selector gearbox meant extra versatility. A special version was the Barker saloon of 1949 with an aluminium body.
