Quite simply, the XK120 was the sports car that elevated Jaguar into the big time. Introduced at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show, featured an all-new straight-six twin-overhead camshaft engine that lived well into the ‘80s. Performance was excellent (the 120mph maximum speed was the reason for its name). However, the XK120’s real forté was its sheer all-round driving pleasure for such a low price. The earliest aluminium roadsters are easily the most valuable, with SEs commanding a premium, and the later Drophead Coupés not far behind.
