FORD Consul Classic
Seeking to repeat the success of the Anglia, Ford launched the similarly-styled Consul Classic in 1961. The reverse-rake window was back but the larger canvas gave Ford the opportunity to really go to town with the Transatlantic touches. But it proved a little too much for conservative British tastes, especially once the Cortina arrived to occupy a similar niche. The original 1340cc engine was replaced by a 1498cc unit in 1962. After only two years the car was dropped. The looks make it an interesting classic today though.
